Anita H

I was diagnosed with Hep C in the US when being treated for something else. I could have fallen off the chair with the shock - but my physician (Kaiser Permanente Hospital) could tell me very little except to stop drinking.

I had a liver biopsy and it was found that my liver was not showing any signs of cirrhosis. I decided to go with acupuncture, Chinese herbs and Xi Gong. I also take Milk Thistle daily. So far my levels have maintained a steady consistency (low ALT/AST levels) and when Western drug companies can come up with a 100% cure for ALL of the genutypes (mine is 1a - one of the hardest to cure so far!) then I will consider taking the drugs. I just hope that that happens sooner rather than later.

I also happen to believe that the intrusion of a liver biopsy is totally unnecessary and can cause more damage than the good it is intended to do so refuse to have one done and go with 3 monthly blood tests to keep a check.
